WHAT IS IT?
Flap surgery is a technique in plastic and reconstructive surgery where any type of tissue is lifted from a donor site and moved to a recipient site with an intact blood supply. This is distinct from a graft which does not have an intact blood supply and therefore relies on growth of new blood vessels.
WHO NEED IT ?
People who suffer from severe gum disease which cannot be cured with antibiotics or root planing and scaling.
HOW WE DO IT ?
After numbing the area with a local anesthetic, we will use a scalpel to separate the gums from the teeth and then lift or fold them back in the form of a flap. This gives us the direct access to the roots and bone supporting the teeth.
